VEIL since the war the bus traffic 111..4 Worcester has grown steadily. The Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., which is the principal company operating services in Hydraulic Jacks for Commercial Motors.

A. useful range of hydraulic jacks in eight models has recently been placed on the market by the Atlas Engineering Co., of 23, Tavistock Square, Lon don, W.C.1. The jacks, which are British made, have an extra screw extension which can be raised to the height of the axle before bringing the hydraulic power into action, so that the full extent of lift of the ram is available.

The smallest design has a lift of 61 ins., that of the largest being 9,1 ins. The screw extension is 5 ins. the district, has continually opened up new routes and augmented those already existing, whilst the other firms have found their businesses growing so fast that frequently new vehieles have in the,case of the three smaller models and 41 ins, in the case of the largest model. The heights of the four models • fully closed are 91 ins., 10i ins., 111 ins, and 12i ins, respectively when fitted with a disc-type crutch, and ins. more when a V-type crutch is fitted. Each of the four sizes can be had in two strengths, tested either for 4 tons or for 8 tons, and the prices range from

60s. to 85s. .

A useful feature is that the Atlas jack .need. not be held when pumping " light " up to the load ; it is sufficiently heavy .and well balanced to remain steadily in position. The oil reservoir is brazed to the base.
