Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WHAT is there of interest to the general public in the absorption by the railway

companies of motorbus undertakings? This question was asked the other day and it had to be admitted that at present there is nothing. A railway takes over a bus company but the work goes on as before. No better services are given and no cheaper fares. The buses are the same. They are operated by the original staff and run on the same routes, and there the matter ends.

The only stage when any of these railway road services interest the public is when they provide better facilities for travel and when through bookings can be made by road and rail to points where there is no railway station. In one or two instances this is being done and there is an example or two of return tickets being available by road or rail where the railway owns the local bus service.
