• Vauxhall Motors made record net profits of £151.9 million last year on a turnover up 22.8% to 22,048 million. Bedford van registrations reached 40,321, the highest level since 1973. Managing director Paul Tosch says there are still no plans to launch a replacement for the 3.5-tonne CF van, but says that all Bedford vans will be fitted with catalytic converters as standard by 1993.
