• P&O and Sealink have renewed calls to merge their Dover to Calais services to prepare for competition from the Channel Tunnel. This coincides with a Centre of Economic Policy Research prediction that the Chunnel could lose up to 24 billion in its first year of operation because of intense ferry competition.
