• Bauma — the world's largestconstruction plant and vehicle show — included over 500 truck-based exhibits in Munich last week. The MAN M90 programme has been enlarged to include a 17.232 4x4 chassis to offer allwheel-drive in every weight range from the G90 models to the heaviest F90 8x8 chassis already revealed at Brussels. Mercedes-Benz has also extended its site vehicle progranune to include the new MK range, and the Special Types 6036 Putzmeister concrete pump carrier on six axles (three driven, three steered) from the manufacturer's special vehicle division at Arbon, in Switzerland. Liebherr, a German specialist in concrete mixers and plant, has modified a Mercedes-Benz chassis to take a silenced mixer drive to reduce noise. Volvo revealed first details of its new NL range — to be built in Brazil — which includes normal control models for site and haulage work. NL models, like the N10 6x 6 chassis launched at 'Bauma, have a cab raised by 50mm compared with the earlier bonneted design and the engine is moved 230mm further forward. Fitted with ZF gearboxes, the NL programme will be marketed in Africa, the Middle East and South America, but may be introduced to European fleet users. Italian dump truck producer Perlini has added an on/off-road 6x4 truck powered by a Fiat engine and featuring an unusual rear-steer facility on the third, drivenaxle. The British-made "Rangelift" (distinguished by its Ford Cargo cab and powered by a rearmounted Deutz engine) was one of the star attractions in the aerial work platform sector. The Rangelift has fourwheel-drive and does not require outriggers for site operation for access heights of up to 26 metres.
