Japan's largest car maker has recently announced its intention to invest £700m in its first European car assembly plant at Burnaston, Derbyshire, and was said to be looking at the possibility of increasing its CV involvement beyond the joint agreement to produce pickups with Volkswagen, and its stake in Salvador Caetano in Portugal.
