BRS Rescue claims that 20 per cent of the entire UK commercial vehicle fleet is now in its registered membership. The service answers 150 calls in every 24 hours or almost 55,000 calls a year. Of these about 11,000 are for NFC vehicles, the remainder are for private contractors or own account operators.
Another NFC service working successfully for the private sector is the Renova engine plant — a branch of NCL. The plant reconditions engines for customers or for re-sale, stocks are reported to be substantial. More than 60 per cent of the throughput is for non-NFC companies.
