ANY incoming Government must repeal unnecessary laws and leave business alone to get on with the job said Freight Transport Association president Malcolm Banks at the FTA annual dinner on Monday.
Mr Banks, group traffic manager of the Littlewoods Organisation said that the easy option for any government when faced with a pro blem was to set up a commission or committee of inquiry or some other form of quango.
He slammed the recent Price Commission report on the haulage industry as coming to conclusions which were "naive and reflecting an abysmal lack of knowledge of the industry — and as events turned out many of the points were out of date before the print was dry.
