for Milian market

BEDFORD'S top weight specification the TM 44 tonner, first developed for the Italian market, made its debut in rigid form at the Barcelona Motor Show this week. In this configuration it is intended for heavy-duty drawbar-trailer operation.

The Detroit Diesel 8V-92T engine has a capacity of 732cuin (12 litres) and develops 298kW (400bhp). A feature of the engine is the exhaust-driven turbocharger feeding a positive displacement blower.

Power is transmitted via a Fuller 9 speed range-change gearbox to a Rockwell U 180 single-reduction 13 tonne rear axle.

Also on show was the GMC General, specified for loads up to 90 tonnes where conditions allow. The power unit fitted here is the turbocharged Detroit Diesel 8V-92TA equipped with an affer cooler, rated at 318kW (429bhp) at 2,100rpm.

Transmission is provided by a Spicer SST 12-52A five speed main gearbox with SST 12-41C four speed box. The tandem double reduction Eaton rear axles used in conjunction with Hendrickson RT 500 rear suspension have a capacity of 29.5 tonnes.
