Transquip Trailers also launched at SED a new lowloading semi-trailer — the DW 42 — 215-FGN — in their medium weight range. Designed for a max. payload of 34.5 tonnes in a useful well length of 21 ft. the new lowloader incorporates the proven

Transquip feature of a hydraulically-operated gooseneck to allow plants etc. to be driven on and off without the use of special ramps. The new trailer has its own independent hydraulic power pack housed "underfloor" just ahead of the leading axle. A special safety feature is provided in the form of a hazard lighting circuit supplied from a battery also carried under the floor.

Another new self-loading low bed semi-trailer — the TS 30— was on the adjacent King Trailer stand. M.A.N. and Stonefield exhibits were combined on the Savile stand while

another M.A.N., a 1.h.d. 16.304 formed the base of a novel access platform by HyRider, of Frith, Kent.

Similar "high rise" inspection and work platforms exhibited by several plant hire -companies included a new E.P.L. unit on a D.A.F. 6 x 4 chassis and a Bedford TK 1260-based Simon platform for a Crayford, Kent, operator.

Other models allow a working height of up to 33 ft. to be reached without outriggers. All functions, including forward and reverse drive, can be controlled from the platform.

Light vehicles at Hatfield included the versatile Frenchmade Cournil range of 4 x 4 cross-country load carriers and a simple two-ton capacity utility truck with timber dropside body recently introduced by Johnson Machinery Ltd., of Stockport.

The Johnson Motil PH-2 as shown at Hatfield has an open-sided steel cab and is powered by a Petter twocylinder diesel engine driving through a three speed and reverse gear box. The vehicle can be supplied fully equipped to meet requirements for operation on public roads.
