THE National Association of Warehouse Keepers announces that the International Federation of Public Warehousing Associations was formed at a recent meeting in London.
The purpose of the Federation is to facilitate an interchange of news and views of global proportions on matters of common interest to warehouse-keepers. The proposal to form such a body was received favourably by many European national associations as well as those of countries as far afield as America, Japan and Hong Kong.
Lord Drumalbyn. Minister Without Portfolio, was the principal guest at the banquet held to celebrate the launching of the new Federation.
The address of the Federation is 120 Grand Buildings. Trafalgar Square. London WC2. Mr S. G. Burgess is secretary.
NEBSS progress
THE City and Guilds of London Institute reports that since the National Examinations Board in Supervisory Studies was se: up some eight years ago, there has been a dramatic recognition of the cardinal importance of effective frontline management in which the supervisor makes a vital contribution_ A number of road haulage training schemes involve NEBSS courses.
The annual report for 1 972 shows that 4288 candidates took the NEBSS examinations thanks to the support of training boards, technical colleges and employers.
Despite the success achieved it is felt that much remains to be done if the nation's reservoir of management talent is to be fully tapped.
Employers are urged to pay greater attention to developing the analytical, administrative, decision-making and communicating capabilities of their frontline managers because, with changing social systems and behaviour patterns at work, the task of the supervisor in interpreting policies and procedures and securing their involvement and commitment, calls for a high priority in training programmes in every undertaking.
