Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The first three coach versions of Seddon's midi passenger chassis have now been built. There are substantial changes from the bus body.

The coach has a new, flatter roofline and larger wndows. The scissors-type doors are retained from the bus but major development work has been employed to provide greater sound deadening. The coach is fully trimmed and is supplied as standard with 25 non-reclining luxury seats.

The Perkins 4.236 engine is still employed but is coupled to an Eaton two-speed axle. A maximum cruising speed of 65 mph is claimed. Price for the chassis is L2390 and basic body price, including seats; is £3740, Fitted with forced-air ventilation, radio and other luxury items total vehicle price is about £6500.

Of the three coaches so far built, one is a prototype and two are with distributors. A spokesman for Seddon told CM that no more coaches were to be built until experience gained in the operation of the first three had been fully evaluated.

However, 15 of the new bodies — with bus-type seats — have been ordered by SELNEC PTE.
