DECAUSE of the uneconomic
ing caused by unnecessary waiting, British Road Services was to have imposed as from April 16 an additional charge when its vehicles called at London docks, railheads and warehouses but had to return to depot empty because loads of fruit and vegetables were not available. Protests by traders have led to the postponement of this imposition.
Proper liaison, traders stated, would make empty return journeys unnecessary. Delays to produce were caused by congestion for which traders were not responsible. Representatives of B.R.S. and the National Federation of Fruit and Potato Traders are to discuss the matter.
