Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

"THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR."

Cornmendng with the issue of ,May 415, the price of "THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR." will be increased to Fourpence.

It has not been our desire so to raise the price. Many journals have already done so, and, as a matter of fact, our increase has been deferred long after its justigcation, in the hope of an improvement in paper prospects. But prices -have risen continuously, showing now .every tenden-y to go still higher. .

We have, thus, been forced to make a small upward step in the price of the journal to its readers, one which, however, represents but a proportion of our additional cost of production, which is not merely one of paper. The position to-day, unfortunately, does not warrant the hope that the last of these increases has been reached. At. the same time, we intend, as soon as possible, to bring:the price of the journal back to its earlier 4 vet, always striving to increase its value to our readers.

• Although an explanation of the Increase in price, is due to our readers, we do not feel that it need be apolegetic in tone, in view of fhe high standard all along nWritained in the productycn of this journal.
