JUST TO LET you know how much I still enjoy reading your excellent magazine Commercial Motor every week. Classic Trucks (CM 5 September) was a delight to read. I loved the Foden eight-wheeler and the 6x4 unit. In CM 12 September I also enjoyed the Roll of
Honour, but it was rather sad that neither ERF nor Foden got a mention. We must never forget these great trucks. My family firm, J Sharpies & Son Haulage, ran several artics and Foden eight-wheelers for many years. Sadly, I closed the business five years ago after
83.5 years of trading. I loved the trucks, but sadly the haulage rates and volume of work did not cover the cost of running, so I called it a day. So sad that Foden trucks have closed too. Perhaps we should bring back the Union Jack and 'I'm backing Britain' just like the wonderful 1980s again. All good wishes to CM. Long may you continue! Jean Sharples Eardisley, near Hereford
