LIVE different types of trailer and

semi-trailer, amongst which is a 9-ton hopper semi-trailer designed for handling bulk loads, are seen here. The body is filled from the top and the contents discharged from below.

The 25-ton low-loading semi-trailer shown has an unsprung tandem rear bogie with wheels equipped with 14.00 by 20 18-ply tyres arranged in single jug this design, it is possible to make the. rear of the body exceptionally low. On a 12-ton straight-framed semitrailer chassis shown, the suspension is 'interesting in that the forward ends of the semi-elliptic springs are slidably mounted in the hanger brackets, the axle being located by adjustable radius rods. The depth of the pressed-steel channel-section frame is 15 ins.

THIS exhibitor specializes in build ing mobile shops and offices mounted on two-wheeled trailers of its own manufacture. Four examples are shown, including two refreshment kiosks, a mobile shop and a surveyor's office. The trailer frames are built of steel, having diagonal. members integral with the towbar. The wheels, which are mountql on roller bearings, are of the easy-clean type; the axle is mounted on undetslung low-cambered springs. All models ate provided with overrun and parking brakes.

The Sheldon. refreshment trailer, which forms one of the exhibits, is fully equipped with water tanks, sink, a cooker, urns and suitable drawers. Lighting and heating are by Calor gas.

THREE vehicles are exhibited on this J. stand, including a 12-ton low-loading semi-trailer designed. for carrying contractors' plant, and a 5-ton standard platform four-wheeled trailer. The . third exhibit is a 1-ton two-wheeled trailer designed for carrying oil-filtering plant. The body on this trailer is 7 ft. 8 ins, long, by 5 ft. wide and 6 ft. high.

The 12-ton machinery carrier is of the type in which the bogie axles are free to oscillate. The bogies, complete with the mudguards, are easily detached without the use of special tools. The 5-ton standard trailer is of straightforward design, the turntable being mounted with a steep-angled taper-roller-bearing centre which provides an easy turning movement and full leftand right-hand lock. formation. For end-loading, the rear ,bogie is detachable as. a unit.

The frame members of the 8-ton straight-framed semi-trailer, which forms another exhibit, are bolted together so that the frame can be readily dismantled for shipment. In the timber-carriage semi-trailer, ail the parts which have to be removed when it is operated are secured by chains. Fsont-mounted hydraulic rams give a 50-degree tip to the body of a 7-ton end-tipping four-wheeled trailer.
