Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A British driver was been attacked by illegal immigrants in Calais earlier this month.

Ken Murphy, 59, works for Caerwys, Frintshire-based JD Owens. The windows of his Scania were smashed with a brick and he was hit on the ankle by another missile.

The attack happened at the A524 fuelling point about a mile outside Calais docks. Murphy says that he had Just got off the ferry and had stopped to refuel. He was walking back to the truck when seven or eight immigrants approached him. They asked if he was going to England. He said no but they attacked the truck as he drove off.

Murphy says that he was left distressed by the attack. "I'm a bit shaken up—I stopped smoking two years ago but I've just had to start again. i never thought something like this would happen to me," he adds.

Two men were later arrested by French police.

Dai Owens, director of JD Owens, says that the French must police the docks more carefully: "The French have got to clear the dock areas. If they arrested a few of them and banged them up for six months then word would soon get around that Calais was no longer a soft touch."

Owens plans to write to his MP about putting pressure on the French authorities.
