• Fareway and Liverline, Liverpool's two largest independents, which currently operate over 100 buses between them, are expanding their services.
Fareway has introduced its seventh commercial route between Kirkby and the city cei tre on a 20-minute frequency. With nine additional buses the company is running 21 buses an hour on this route.
Liverline is bringing in six additional vehicles on a new route from the city to Lee Park, to replace one that was lost at deregulation.
Merseybus, the incumbent operator, has already responded to the challenge by registering services with iden. tical numbers and routes.
