• Transport company S Jones has launched an unaccompanied tank container service in the UK following its link-up with a West German haulage company, Taby Schiffahrts und Speditions.
The new venture, JonesTaby Tanker Containers, will open up new markets for S Jones, which has traditionally specialised in transporting bulk loads with driver throughout the UK and Europe.
General manager Tony Sayce says the launch of the service is a natural step forward for the company which has been handling foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals and hazardous chemicals in Britain and Europe for the past 10 years_ "We believe there's a gap in the market for an unaccompanied tanker service," he says. "We've a good deal of experience in tank haulage and, with our own fleet and service facilities, are better placed than most to handle bulk loads."
All goods will be transported by ADR-approved ISO tankers which can be transferred easily from road transporters to rail or ship.
