CUMBRIAN haulier ticoft Stamper has put into service two 6x2 Foden tractive units, but this is not a sign of the Sandbach-based Paccar subsidiary having changed its policy of ''6x4 is best at 38 tonnes". •
Foden Trucks still does not have a 6x2 tractive unit,
Stamper's two new vehicles, both Gardner 6LYT powered, left Sandbach as 3,8 lOmm wheelbase 4x2 S104s. The Granning lifting, trailing axles were added, as a 'notifiable alteration'', by .Southworth Commercials of Chorley.
Complete with the Granning conversion, . the S104's kerb weight, with a full 477 litre fuel tank, is around 7.1 50k g.
