HARDWARE and garden products wholesaler Johnson Gibbons of Manchester has solved a distribution problem by using a drawbar demountable system on contract from BRS.

The company's Middlesborough warehouse was closed earlier this year and BRS was asked to exlore alternative distribution arrangements to using its own fleet.

A system. employing one 32.5 tonne drawbar unit, five swop bodies and two 16.3 tonne rigids was used. The drawbar outfit, with two 7.3m swop bodies trunks ready sorted loads to a sub depot in Middlesborough five nights a week where they are demounted and reloaded on to 16-tonne Scanias.

The two empty boxes. are returned to Manchester for reloading the next day.
