THE revised programme for the 50th Annual Conference of the Municipal Passenger Transport Association at Eastbourne is as follows:—
October 30: Winter Garden, 8 p.m., informal reception and dance.
October 31: Winter Garden. 9.45 a.m., assemble; 10 a.m., maybral welcome, presideni:al address; -presentation of prizes in 1951. Essay Competition.. paper, ‘` Some Impressions of City Transport in U.S.A.," by W. M. Hall; 2 p.m., paper, "Can Discipline be Maintained Under the Modern Trend of Events and, if so. What Methods can be Employed? " by G. A. Cherry; 7.15 p.m., Grand Hotel, annual dinner and dance.
, November I: Winter Garden, 10 a.m., Association's annual general meeting and continuation of discussion on first paper; 2.30 p.m., annual general meeting, Federation of Municipal Passenger Transport Employers; continuation of discussion on second. paper. Winter Garden, 8.30 p.m.. civic reception and dance.
November 2: Winter Garden, 9.45 a.m., assemble; 10 a.m., poach tour, Hastings; .1 p.m., arrive Eastbourne.
LOAD SPREADING ALTERS SCHEDULES rlISCUSSIONS have taken • place Li between bus .operators, the Ministry of Transport, the Northern Regional Board for Industry and trade unions on the need. for providing additional transport for men in the north-east working staggered', hours during the winter to spread-over the electricity load. Some thousands of men and women are to work one Shift weekly from noon' to 9.30 p.m., beginning on* OctOber 29.. This is likely to mean many•adjitStments in the working 'llours of transport workers.
