• Thomas Electronic Services of Marple, Cheshire has introduced a voltage converter which enables a mini-bus with 12-volt electrics to use computerised ticketing equipment designed to run on 24-volt outputs.
According to TES, 90% of all mini-buses operate with 12volt electrics, while electronic ticketing machines produced by manufacturers such as Wayfarer and Almex are designed for 24-volt vehicles. TES's solidstate converter makes it possible to use such equipment by stepping up the voltage supply. The device can produce a 24volt output from a supply of between nine and 14 volts, but can handle a maximum of 36 volts.
