A labelling system which enables a company to produce its own labels is offered by Stimur Manufacturing and is based on the Scotchcal photo-sensitive product range from 3M.
To make a label, artwork has to be from a good-quality tracing or a line negative or positive which is then exposed with the photo-sensitive material under an ultra-violet light after which the material is developed.
It is claimed that a complete label can be produced on occasions in 5 min. Once the plate is developed the paper backing is pulled off, thereby exposing a pressure-sensitive adhesive.
