Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Trevor LongCroft High on the list of transport managers' problems must be the possibility of a GV9 being issued to one of his vehicles or his 0 licence being revoked, curtailed or suspended if he cannot satisfy the Licensing Authority that his vehicles are being maintained in a satisfactory manner. Indeed, in many of the cases brought before an LA operators have difficulty in producing adequate maintenance records to substantiate their vehicle maintenance claims.

Seddon Atkinson Spares and Service Ltd, Preston, is introducing a servicing scheme that should help to overcome some operators' maintenance difficulties. Covering monthly, six-monthly, and annual (for the DoE test) servicing, they intend to expand this service to other approved. Seddon Atkinson distributors.

A single four-page document is used for records and it covers all the servicing schedules. Retention of this document, says Seddon Atkinson, should satisfy the DoE examiners about vehicles' maintenance.

The monthly /5000-mile schedule contains 66 items and the six-monthly/20,000-mile schedule contains an additional 30 items. The annual or 40,000 miles' test contains 16 more items and prepares the vehicle for the DoE annual test.

Each of the services has a fixed charge exclusive of materials and is supplemented by a free inspection of the items likely to be checked by a vehicle examiner.

The final page of the servicing document provides space for the listing of any defects requiring attention. The customer will be asked what action should be taken to correct the defects, ie, whether he will repair it himself or let the service agents deal with it.
