Anti-theft Device from Ward Bros.

AN anti-theft device suitable for use on commercial vehicles is now available from Ward Brothers Pressings Ltd. It takes the form of an extensible metal bar, having a hook at each end that is secured by chain and lock. One end of the device is hooked over the rim of the steering wheel, the other under the brake or clutch pedal. The bar is then telescoped and locked—so making steering and the use of either the brake or clutch impossible.

The Karlock is sold complete with two spare keys.

Corrosion Inhibitor RUST and corrosion of exposed parts and electrical components on vehicles can be prevented by using a new aerosol spray, CRC, Formula 5-56, claim the Autocar Electrical Equipment Co. Ltd., who are marketing this American-made product in this country.

It is claimed that the spray, which can be used as a penetrating oil or as a lubricant, will quickly drive out moisture .from any surface, being particularly effective with ignition systems.

A fine capillary extension tube to direct the fluid accurately is supplied free of charge with aerosols of 3 oz. or larger—the extension tube fits into the actuator nozzle. Driveless Odometer NOW being distributed in this country by Rupert Ledger and Co. Ltd. is the driveless odometer made by Engler Instrument Co. Called the Hubodometer, this hermetically sealed mileage recording instrument will record travel in either direction (forwards and backwards) and is claimed to be foolproof— there is no cable to remove and it is impossible to "put the clock back ".

The unit consists of an outer sealed casing which is mounted on a hub. A recording mechanism is mounted inside the casing similar to that in the usual type of odometer. This recording mechanism is weighted so that it does not revolve when the wheel is turning. A simple internal recorder is operated by the rotation of the outer case through a gear-andworm drive—the ratio of the latter is predetermined at time of assembly, according to wheel and tyre size.

The Hubodometer is supplied with a sealed hub cap or with a universal mounting bracket, already calibrated so that it can be fitted accurately without using a measuring instrument. The clock face is covered with a strong, transparent plastics cup. This is claimed to be slightly resilient, so absorbing shock. A useful feature of this instrument is that the mileage figures are always in the upright position.

The makers state that the Hubodometer can be supplied calibrated for any wheel size and that its accuracy is limited only by the tyre condition and inflation pressure.

Plastics Tap APLASTICS tap, called the Chemicoil Tap, suitable for use with a wide range of liquids, has been developed by Waddington and Duval (Holdings) Ltd. It is designed for use with 5 gal. drums or 4 gal, rectangular tins, pierced with a 40 mm. reversed aperture.

The Chemicoil Tap incorporates a pilfer-proof rubber transit seal—it can be opened only after this seal has been torn off, the tap then being pulled out to the dispensing position. No liquid flows until the reciprocating piston is operated—thus the stream is always well clear of the container. The tap returns air through itself, no second aperture being needed.
