SINCE February last, the Lockheed-Gates mechanical. hydraulic brake booster, made by the Automotive Products Co., Ltd., Tachbrook Road, Leamington Spa, which was fully described in this paper dated December .18, 1936, has been subjected to a series of strenuouS tests, from which it has emerged with success.
Among other trials carried out was one of. 98 working days' duration, during which 19,000 miles were traversed, and 25,000 stop-applications of the brake were made, whilst in every run was included the descent of such acclivities as Warmington. Edge and Sunrising Hills. The total length of these descents amounted to 1,340 miles, and the average gradient is stated to be 1 in 6.
Besides this test, a trial of one month was made under .traffic conditions. The vehicle, in this case, covered 1,965 miles and made 12,543 stops, which works out at 6.33 stops per mile.
We are informed that A.E.C. and Daimler passenger chassis are now being equipped with this servo device for tests on vehicles in actual operation.
