• Bee Line bus company of Berkshire admits it is struggling to run a full service after an arsonist set fire to its Newbury depot two months ago. The fire gutted 25 buses, causing El million worth of damage to its property.
Engineers are working constantly to keep buses running, says chief engineer Ken Hart. The company has moved to temporary premises in Thatcham and is borrowing other workshops for urgent repairs.
It will be at least a year before the destroyed depot can be reopened: a man is awaiting trial on charges connected with the incident.
