group chairman of the British Association of Removers. He joined his family business Thomas Maxted at 16, as a van boy, and now heads the removals arm of the company. His brother John operates the general haulage side of the Manchester firm.
The association has also elected its first woman national chairman. She is Jane Shaw, who runs F W Shaw (Worthing) with her husband Des.
John Scott is the new chairman of the overseas group. He started his own company, Scotpac, in Glasgow in 1967. He remains managing director, although the company is now part of P&O.
Bert Waddington, managing director of Stubbs International Movers, has been elected national president.
