ETMC CODE OUT ON WHEEL BEARINGS • The European Transport Maintenance Council has published another recommended code of practice in its series of truck workshop guidelines, this time on wheel bearings.

The code tells operators how to select, store, remove, clean and inspect wheel bearings as well as carry out failure analysis. The fitting and adjustment of wheel bearings is also covered in the booklet, plus lubrication and general maintenance.

ETMC says that its next guidelines code, on reading gear teeth, will be published later this year.

The wheel bearings code is available at a cost of 300 Belgian Francs (approximately 25) from the ETMC Central Office, Jan Van Rijswijcklaan 166A. B2020 Antwerp, Belgium phone 010-32-3-237 3627.

The first ETMC Code on hub seals is still available at the same price (300BFr), and a free ring binder is supplied when both codes are ordered together.
