• The Workshop! Edstrom competition for £1,000 worth of equipment to turn a van into a mobile workshop has been won by 53-year-old George Beckham, transport manager of the London Borough of Hounslow, on behalf of that borough.
"I entered on behalf of the council," Beckham told Workshop, and on speaking to the senior assistant borough engineer and surveyor he was told there was no reason why he could not accept on behalf of the council. "At the time of the competition we were considering fitting out a Ford Transit as a mobile workshop. We need a mobile fitter who is well equipped," said Beckham.
