Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Tail-lift fixed to chassis

A CHASSIS-MOUNTED tail-lift, shown last week at the Institute of Road Transport Engineers annual conference and exhibition in Solihull, is claimed to offer advantages over both twincolumn and cantilever lifts.

The HT tail lift, market by Hydrolift Transport Equipment of Loughborough, has a platform which can be lowered vertically to give unobstructed access to loading banks.

Lighter than many conventional cantilever tail lifts, the HT is attached to the rear of the chassis and requires no support from the body structure.

While avoiding interference with rear doors or roller shutters, the lift can also serve as part of the rear closure — saving cost and weight.

Alternatively, the platform can be hinged transversely across the centre to fold down below floor height. The attitude•of the platform may be adjusted to compensate for uneven ground.

The range covers lifting capacities from 250kg to 5 tonnes. A typical weight for the 1.5-tonne model is about 330kg (7301b).
