CITY OF OXFORD Motor Services has a new general manager — Arthur Townsend. From June 1 he succeeds David Graham, who is being seconded by National Bus Company for three years' work as a regional director of the Business in the Community project, organised by national companies to support new local business ventures.

Mr Townsend, who is 56, has been traffic manager for Eastern National Omnibus Company at Chelmsford since March last year. He began his career with Midland Red in 1949.

Also announced by NBC is the appointment of Robert Tait as manager of National Travel (East).

Mr Tait, 50, was general manager of National Travel (West) at Manchester, having previously held traffic and managerial appointments with Wallace Arnold Tours, Hobble Motor Services and the Sheffield and Liversedge units of National Travel (East).

Mr Tait's appointment coincides with the transfer of National Travel (East) to control by West Riding Automobile Co, NBC's subsidiary at Wakefield.
