OLVO'S new bus production ant at Boras, Sweden was laugurated on Friday by Aredish Minister of Transport id Communications Bo uresson.
The plant is to be used for e assembly of bus chassis, eluding the B58, for the -itish coach market, presembly of knocked down is, and as a parts store.
An eventual production of 300 chassis and 2,000 ckd per ,ar is planned. The plant is ghly mechanised and has a tal workforce of only 160, of horn 24 are women.
The decision to build the ant reflects a general in crease in the demand for Volvo buses since the Sixties. Volvo exports 87 per cent of its bus production to countries which are as far apart as Costa Rica and Thailand.
