Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

purchased from a third party but I have now had to scrap the lorry. I have been told I cannot sell it until the licence has been transferred to my name which I have not done yet as I thought of getting another lorry. I have also been told that if (leave it any length of time the licence would not be renewed and I cannot sell the licence without a lorry.

AWe must immediately clarify the position by stating that you cannot purchase a B licence, neither can you sell one. Even if you are in possession of a B licence it is still legally the property of the person who made the application.

It therefore now falls to you to make application to the Licensing Authority in your area for a B licence, informing him that you are prepared to work in accordance with the conditions contained in the existing licence. At the same time the holder of the present licence will be required to appear before the Licensing Authority and state that he wishes you to take over the licence.

The Licensing Authority may wish to know to what extent the vehicle has operated during the previous 12 months. It would therefore be inadvisable for you to delay making your application because such delay must inevitably promote the question whether the customers of the holder of the current licence had been satisfied in the meantime.
