Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN application by Hebble Motor Services Ltd., Halifax, to increase fares on stage carriage services was granted last week by the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners.

Objections were received from Bingley Urban District Council, the Borough of Spenborough, and Keighley Trades Council.

Single fares up to 11d, will be increased by Id.; fares up to Is. 7d. by 2d.; and fares from ls. 8d. to 5s. 8d. by 3d. Return fares up to is. 11d, will be increased by 2d.; fares from 2s. Od. to 3s. 3d. by 4d.; and fares from 3s. 4d. upwards by 6d.

For the company it was stated that since fares had been last increased in July 1965, it had had to meet additional costs amounting to £25,800 iti a full year. The increases had been met in part by introducing additional one-man operation and by making a reduction of 6.19 per cent in stage carriage mileage in June 1966.

The company had made provision in its estimates for a loss of 3.5 per cent of passengers, and this figure was accepted by the Traffic Commissioners as reasonable.

Aid. W. R. Hargrave appeared for the company and evidence in support of the application was given by the general manager, Mr. F. A. J. Woodworth.

The new fares will be introduced on July 1. Case for PIES?: Proposed fare increases by the East Midlands Motor Services will be referred by Warsop Urban Council, Notts, to the Prices and Incomes Board if they are approved by the Traffic Commissioners.
