Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AHAULIER, James Raymond Dixon, 50,

partner in the firm of Smith and Dixon, of Sunderland, Co. Durham, and six of the firm's drivers were discharged on Wednesday at Newcastle upon Tyne Assizes when conspiracy charges (CM, February 10) against them were quashed by Mr. Justice James.

The charges alleged a conspiracy to incite drivers to work beyond permitted hours, not to take prescribed rest periods and to falsify records.

The Judge said he was satisfied there had been a number of individual conspiracies but "there is no evidence here which goes to establish that these accused were all in one and the same conspiracy".

The drivers were Charles Mulvaney, 31, Maurice Hall, 36; Kenneth Marrs, 30; George Nimmo, 37; James Robertson, 47 and Neil Thompson Whitfield, 33.
