HAULAGE group and sand and gravel con
tractor Greenwoods (St. Ives) Ltd. is waiting for advice from merchant bankers S. G. Warburg and Co. Ltd before deciding whether to accept a £5.7m. takeover bid by the South African finance house, Consolidated Goldfields Ltd.
Greenwoods, a public company since 1959, earned pre-tax profits of £469,000 last year. Its road haulage subsidiaries together operate more than 250 vehicles and include Greenwoods Transport Ltd., Home Counties Transport Ltd., Miller and Gordon Ltd., Jay Pee (Contract and Warehousing) Ltd., and J. Perkins Transport (Isleworth) Ltd.
