Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Examination of Drivers Now Proceeding : Additional Entries.

The entries in the ordinary sections are now closed, unless exceptional causes justify the Parade Sub-committee in accepting any late notifications. There are, additionally to the entries which were reported by us a fortnight ago, 'the following : Allen and Hanburys, Ltd., one Thornyeroft steam wagon and one Yorkshire steam wagon ; Chislehurst, Mineral Water Co., one Foden steam lorry ; Mann, Cros.sman and Paulin, Ltd., two Leyland steam lorries (making six in all), and thus qualifying the company for the team section ; Lipton Ltd., one " Commer-Car " van ; and Commercial Car Hirers, Ltd., six " Commer-Car "

vans—both individually and as a team. The competition for THE COMMERCIAL Merrost cup is thus between no fewer than nine teams of six vehicles each, and this is a gratifying start in a departure for which the proprietors of this journal are responsible. The cup is a handsome trophy, in solid silver, to be held annually.

Meetings of the Judges Committee. for the purposes of the rites-I:nee examinations of the drivers, began on Thursday of last week, and they are being continued this week. In addition, unnotified visits are being paid to the store-sheds, in order to -ascertain the general circumstanees under

whieh the men have to put up their vehicles or tractors each night. The marking-scale and questions have been revised, in the light of experience gained on previous occasions, and we are confident that everybody who has anything to do with this year's function will he satisfied with its conduct and issue. Fine weather is wanted.

Attention is also directed to the brief announcement on page 238 of thus issue, with regard, more particularly. to the decision to allow seats to be booked at the luncheon, at the Waldorf Hotel, which is to precede the parade. Orders should be sent to the Secretary at once.
