Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Port of Dover is planning to attract more hauliers by building a huge freight village which is expected to be operational by 2000.

The move follows Dover Harbour Board's purchase of a 200-acre site called the Old Park Barracks two miles from the port. If planning approval is granted the freight village will incorporate several depot sites and a range of facilities including fuel stations and tyre suppliers. However, it is understood that the plans do not include any extra

parking as the port's freight service area and the Western Docks are being enlarged. "It is still a bit up in the air," a spokeswoman admits.

Michael kravenbrink, general manager of Dover Port's ferry business, says the move should "anchor traffic to Dover and make the port even more attractive for our freight customers." He hopes to attract haulage companies to base themselves on the new site and is promising reasonable rents.

7 The Dodd's Group plans to take on up to 30 new drivers over the next two years as part of a drive to increase its crossChannel work. The company has opened its depot at Sittingbourne. Kent, and expects to in/Tease its multiple trailer nins.to France.
