• Moves to expand south for northern-based haulier Eddie Stobart were put on hold this week after arrangements to take on a depot at Reading, Berks were delayed by problems over the lease for the Worton Grange industrial estate near Junction 11 of the M4.
Twenty vehicles are planned to operate from the Reading base.
The southern expansion is a new stage for the company which has 16 depots and more than 300 vehicles running from the North.
