A Private Member's Bill on the initiative of Mr Graham Page was debated in the House recently and deferred till May. Briefly, the Bill seeks to introduce "no fault" insurance, already prevalent in America, into Britain. Under this system all injured parties must be recompensed for certain • expenses incurred as the result of an accident. This includes the driver, passenger or pedestrian and involving compensation for medical treatment loss of income and property damage. Under present British law, negligence must be proved before damages can be obtained.
