• In situ landing legs can now be specified for the Dumptrailer—the heavy-duty 24ton gem/ artic tipper produced by Neville Industries (Mansfield) Ltd—for applications where outfits are uncoupled regularly.
Stardard Dumptrailers are equipped with sockets into which removable props are fitted. The new landing gear takes the form of a pair of 41n. square-section steel tubes welded by means of wide gussets to the' side stiffening ribs which extend below the body. An inner section in each leg, incorporating a ground-contact foot, is located in the raised or lowered position by a pull-out pin.
When a trailer is to be uncoupled, particularly on soft ground, it is tipped a few inches (raising the leg gear in its entirety). The inner legs can then be dropped, and locked in the down position. Selection of the "lower" position on the tipping control then has the effect of relieving the load on the fifth-wheel for uncoupling.
