Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TN view of the popular interest in heavy-oil engines for 1. commercial-vehicle use it is interesting to note that a 'standard Saurer 6-ton chassis fitted with a Diesel engine has recently been delivered to an important transport concern for the distribution of food products. In our issue dated March 12th, on page 141, we published an illustration of this interesting vehicle, complete -with a 6-ton trailer. Its paying load is therefore 12 tons. Both machines have pneumatic tyres.

The accompanying picture shows the off side of the engine of the machine in question; it is adapted for heavy fuel. A Bosch pump replaces the magneto normally employed for ignition' the leads to the atomizers being commendably short. Very small quantities of fuel can be measured .and supplied by this pump, the error, according to a recent statement, being only' 1 per cent. An air cleaner is fitted, likewise a dynamo and electric starter motor.

'A pre-combustion chamber is used for each cylinder and 'electrically heated plugs are employed for starting purposes. The atomizers are fixed. in the cylinder block at an angle of 20 degrees, and the fnel is sprayed through venturis into the pre-combustion chambers. In appearance, as will be seen from the illustration, the engine hears a close resemblance to a Petrol-fuel unit.
