Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Toby Clark • Trailer leasing firm Transamerica is to pioneer the UK operation of discbraked trailers by comparing braking systems from three manufacturers.

Over the next year Transamerica will assess systems from BPW, Hendrickson/MercedesBenz and ROR-Rockwell.

The Hendrickson and BPW-equipped units (triaxle curtainsiders built by Over'ander and SDC respectively) were shown at the recent IRTE Show. They are about to start service trials with customers. The ROR system has yet to be fitted to a Transamerica trailer.

Pad and disc life will be examined, alongside downtime and customer acceptance. Later trials are expected to match the discs to electronic braking systems (EBS) on both tractor and trailer.
