Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• At the recent Materials Handling Exhibition, many inquiries were received by Geest Industries Ltd for the new Rolcontainer, manufactured by Tornado of Holland and marketed in the UK by Geest. Now it is announced that production in Britain will commence shortly, and an output of 1000 units per week is said to be assured.

The containers are built in high specification tube, steel metal and steel wire, and the whole structure is finished in bright zinc electro-plate. The base is fitted with two fixed and two swivelling wheels. The two side panels, each bearing tally plates, are firmly located. Strong rubber straps are fitted to hold merchandise in place.

By dismantling, the containers can be stacked in minimum space. One base unit will carry 20 separate side panels while the bases are simply stacked on top of one another. Thus 10 empty Rolcontainers occupy the space of two conventional containers.

The standard wheels are suitable for loads up to 400 kilogrammes (approximately 800IW, but heavier wheels allow an increased loading. The Rolcontainer itself carries higher loads without modification.

It is claimed that the use of Rolcontainers with vehicles fitted with tail-lifts can reduce loading and unloading times by as much as 85 per cent.
