Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Willhire, the East Angliabased contract hire and vehicle rental group, is up for sale — with founder Roger Williams determined to see the business expand.

"I've had 27 years in the driving seat," says managing director Williams, "and I've immensely enjoyed it. But in today's competitive market the company would benefit greatly from an injection of cash."

The firm is talking to a number of potential buyers but is not prepared to set a deadline on the outcome. Williams is prepared to consider offers that would

split the component parts of the group — rentals, contracts, computer systems and a main dealer garage — but would prefer to part with the group as a whole.

On completion of a sale Williams will relinquish his job as managing director, but may consider staying on in another capacity.

Willhire has a mixed fleet of 700 trucks, vans and trailers in a wholly owned, non-franchise operation. The business — at Barton Mills, Suffolk — also operates as a licensee for Hertz in the region.
