• I drive a 38-tonne artic on long-distance work. I would like more driving hours again. It cuts the chase out of the job which, in turn, makes drivers safer and also allows more productioh.
To illustrate this, last Thursday I ran out of driving time at 3.30pm and had to park up at Slough when the back load I had on was for Richmond, only 30 minutes' driving away.
How stupid this was! By the way, my job is hauling 4.7m (15ft 6in) high loads of timber over a fair section of the country, so I do know about a driver's needs rather than sitting behind a desk making up rules. Howard Charman Lancing Sussex
