Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A SPRINGLESS suspension for heavy, low-bed trailers transporting heavy machinery has been intrdduced by York Technical Services Ltd of Market Ha rborough.

The new equipment, known as the Argonaut suspension, is made up of two rocking-beam assemblies side by side, forming an eight-wheeled double oscillating axle bogie.

The design makes use of standard York components for all wearing parts. Preloaded sealed for life roller bearings are used in the wheel hubs, in the oscillating axle trunnions and walking-beam pivots. Articulation in the transverse and longitudinal planes is limited only when the tyres contact the trailer frame or deck structure.

Each complete running gear uses four centre-supported axles. In its standard form, rated at 45.7 tonnes (45 tons) imposed loading on 7.50-15 tyres of 55.9 tonnes (55 tons) on 8.25-15 tyres, the standard York axle is effectively reduced in track width from 1.8 m (71 in) to 0.81m (32in).

Braking, where specified, is done with large single Type 36 spring brake actua tors on each axle, operating through a compensator linkage to slack adjusters on the axle's two twin-tyred wheels.
