peroxides
THE first of a series of Home Office pamphlets, "Code of practice for the packaging of dangerous substances for carriage by road", covers organic peroxides, which were made subject to control under the Petroleum (Organic Peroxides) Order 1973. The statutory requirements relating to the packaging of these substances were set out in the Organic Peroxides (Conveyance by Road) Regulations 1973.
The Code, published by HMSO price 20p net, describes the packaging category of various relevant named substances and lists the maximum contents of inner receptacles and the maximum contents of the outer package, The Code recommendations are supplementary to the statutory requirements and their object is to ensure that the packaging used in suited to the nature of the product and is sufficiently strong to meet all the normal requirements of conveyance.
